Updating first generation ipod touch

When I browse the App Store, all apps seem to require a minimum of i OS 4.3. I have tried several times to get the ios 10 update on my ipod 5 gen and It wont let me and if I remember right on the ios 10 on apples website I was researching ios 10 and it said it would be only ipod 6 .
